The republic of Ghana is named after the medieval Ghana empire of West africa. The actual name of the Empire was Wagadugu. Ghana was the title of the kings who ruled the kingdom. Geographically , the old Ghana is 500 miles nort of the present Ghana.

After the independenceMarch 6th 1957 was the date where, Ghana became the first Country in Africa, to be liberated from the Whites. Other African nations followed after that. The date is today a very special day on every Ghanaians calender, It is an important day in the history of ghana and Africa as a whole.

Arrival of the whitesThe portuguese were the first white merchants to arrive in Gold coast in 15th century to trade mainly in gold, diamonds, ivory, just to name a few and most importantly the slaves. In 1842, a year after their arrival, they built the first castle in GOld Coast, called the Elmina Castle, and a SECOND ONE ALSO KNOWN AS FORT ST. ANTHONY AT AXIM, A SMALL FISHING TOWN IN THE WESTERN REGION. |
